I had an amazing stay at this hotel - the traditional Japanese building was beautiful and the onsens were so relaxing. The staff were incredibly kind and even provided a shuttle to and from the station. The local produce feast for dinner was unique and delicious, and the breakfast was also wonderful. this hotel had great facilities, clean rooms, and a great location.
Not one thing.

The traditional decor of the inn really transports you to another time period. the meals provided were definitely an experience. the presentation was quite impressive. We also appreciated the detailed information provided about the dishes.
The bugs were terrible. They were in the rooms, on the walls, and even in the food.

The experience of staying in a traditional Japanese ryokan was amazing. The elaborate and elegantly presented Japanese cuisine was a highlight and the natural hot spring mineral water onsen was a unique experience. The private outdoor onsen was particularly enjoyable.
Bugs were a common occurrence in the rooms, but it was to be expected in a rural Japanese setting. The shared washroom was a bit chilly during our stay as it was unheated and next to our room which sometimes caused noise from other guests.

If you want to have an authentic Japanese experience, this is the place for you. the staff is very accommodating and helpful, providing shuttle service and explaining menu items. the private outdoor onsens provide a peaceful atmosphere for relaxation. Guests are sure to enjoy the unique local produce featured in dinner and breakfast. Rooms are large, beautiful, and warm, featuring antique pieces and comfortable futons.
Although the exterior of the building may be in need of some touch-up, the interior and natural hot springs more than make up for it.
